EMERGENCY FIRST AID FUNDAMENTALS COURSE
The Emergency First Aid Fundamentals course is designed to provide individuals with basic first aid knowledge and skills. The course covers topics such as: Basic anatomy and physiology, including an understanding of the major body systems and how they work. Common emergencies, including heart attacks, strokes, and injuries such as cuts, burns, and broken bones. How to perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Basic wound care, including the proper cleaning and dressing of cuts, wounds, and burns. How to respond to a choking emergency. How to control bleeding, including the use of tourniquets and other methods for stopping bleeding. Recognizing and responding to heat-related emergencies, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Throughout the course, students also can practice and apply their first aid knowledge and skills through hands-on exercises and simulations. The goal of the Emergency First Aid Fundamentals course is to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to common emergencies and to provide lifesaving first aid. By taking this course, individuals can increase their confidence and ability to provide first aid in an emergency.
